The Ed Brush Living Lab

The Ed Brush Living Lab is the latest major project by the BSU Think Tank. The Green Wall features 24 individual plant cells with a full monitoring system to track the moisture content, temperature, and humidity of each plant cell! Check out some of our in-progress work below.

4/23/2025 - Cutting Acrylic Boxes

Each plant is housed in rock wool that is held in place with an acrylic planter box. The sides of the acrylic boxes are cut on our C02 laser cutter.

4/25/2025 - Assembling the Frame

The frame of the green wall was assembled from aluminum bars.

Printing Shrouds

The shrouds that cover the front of the planter boxes were printed on our 3D printers using translucent filament to allow LED lights to shine through.

Support material is removed from each of the prints.

6/6/2025 - Assembling Planter Boxes

The acrylic boxes are assembled and glued together. The boxes are sealed with silicone caulk.
